America Stuck on Royal Family?

This article was well put. The author does a good job of using some of the different dialogues to give examples of the different family member’s joy of the new born. What I do not agree with is the fact that we Americans are so worried about another country’s royal family. I understand that we want to know about their family but it seems like all anyone talks about is Kate and Henry. It does not seem like America is interested in helping Africa acquire clean water or finding a cure for cancer. I feel that America needs to set its priorities and focus on the important facts, not a new born baby from England. I can see America doing something little to acknowledge the baby by saying congratulations and giving them our best wishes. On another note I would like to do my part in congratulating the couple on their new family member.

Who is at the top in comedy?

The article that I read is well written and shows how all contenders have a shot at getting an Emmy award. I too agree that “Modern Family” may be dethroned as the top comedy on television. I believe that the show to have the best chance at winning is the “Big Bang Theory.” The show is outrageously funny. The director does a great job with picking its stars for their specific parts. They have truly worked hard on their show and have been most deserving of their nomination and without a doubt should be an Emmy winner.

My favorite character Sheldon is what I feel to be the reason for their shot at an Emmy award. Jim Parsons’ character is very funny in the way he acts with his friends. It is always amusing to see friends who seem to make a mess of everything and then the one friend who is a control freak to flip out. He can never be wrong and to him he is the smartest human being alive. Every time someone shows their knowledge, he always seems to one up them by proving that their theory is wrong.

Sure there are other good comedies but the one with the best shot is the “Big Bang Theory.”

Coach Savage to Rival USC?

Article: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-ucla-john-savage-ucla-20130704,0,5130265.story

There have been rumors that coach Savage of UCLA would leave and go down the street to coach USC. Coach Savage has had a history with the USC baseball team before he became coach at UCLA in 2005. He used to be the Trojans pitching coach. And is now taking care of the Bruin pitchers.

The rumors are not true! The coach that led his team to a NCAA title has agreed to coach the Bruins until 2025. He will receive a raise in pay and hopes to return to the College World Series next year.

I believe that Savage has made a good decision. Not because of the money but because of the foundation and alumni support he has set. Seven of his eight years of coaching at UCLA, he has reached the playoffs. By leading his team to their first NCAA title he has gained even more support from the UCLA family.

Hamilton’s Rollercoaster of a Season

Article: http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-0708-angels-notes-20130708,0,1071429.story

Josh Hamilton is struggling with his hitting along with his defensive play of lately. The right fielder is batting .230 with an on base percentage of .290. Though he is not doing all that well, he helped the angels win a 9-7 deficit. Coming up with a key hit in the ninth inning when the angels had two outs and following through with a two run home run to win the game in extra innings.

It all started when a fly ball was hit to Hamilton and out of nowhere he trips and falls, missing the fly ball. This then allows the Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia to score. The Angels finally get out of the inning and are scoreless in the bottom half of the 8th inning. They leave the top of the ninth unscathed and are ready to hit. Allowing the Angels to come back into the game and tie it with some errors, the Angels go into extra innings. In the 11th inning, the right fielder is up to bat with a man on base. The first pitch he sees is rocketed into the right field stands.  When interviewed after the game, all Josh had to say was, “You can make a stupid play one minute and a great one the next, that’s what drives you crazy about the game and makes you love it. More times than not, it drives you crazy.”

The Angels are now in third place nine games back from first. Hopefully this nail biting game for Josh Hamilton will give him confidence he needs to turn the start of this rocky season around. With the help of Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout, will need to do all they can in order to make a postseason run.
